JOSEPH DE SANE
American, b. 1971

After graduating from Long Island University, Southampton | BFA and having lived his entire life in New York, it was extended European travel that inspired the need to continue expressing art in the form of drawing and abstract painting. Observing the powerful artwork displayed on the streets of great cities to renowned museums, galleries and arthouses, stirred the lifelong desire to collaborate and contribute to the world of art.

With over two decades as a trained equity actor, and countless theatrical productions, films, and staged play readings to his resume, a strong desire to break away from the literal and express himself beyond words and had emerged.

Having lost, and then found a way to self-express, abstract painting led the way. With a strong focus on the imperfections of shapes, design, textures, and diffused color, without compromising on artistic integrity, the result is artwork that is both gritty and relatable, with the added benefit of being widely collected.

The most exciting paintings, and often the best ones, are the paintings that initially lack direction. Working the canvas and the mediums and invoking the materials and the canvas to present what ultimately becomes a painting - For me, this is making art and the process of making art.

With many group and one man shows to his credit, from Manhattan to the Eastern tip of Long Island, Joe continues to learn through practice, application, and observation, from the great painters of the past and present and the beauty and nature that abounds.
